描述
Take in the amazing scenery as you travel from Christchurch to the alpine wonderland of Aoraki Mt Cook National Park and on to Queenstown, the adventure capital of New Zealand.
Christchurch-to-Queenstown-Day-Tour.jpgLeaving Christchurch, you will travel through the farmland of the Canterbury Plains before arriving into the picturesque town of Tekapo. Stand on the shores of the beautiful glacier-fed lake and see the Southern Alps rise up behind it. See the famous sheep dog statue built in memory of the hard working mustering dogs of the area and the incredibly photogenic Church of the Good Shepherd.
Continue on through Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park, stopping in Mt Cook Village. Here you’ll have amazing views of Aoraki / Mt Cook itself, sitting at 3754m (12,316ft) high. During your time in Mt Cook Village you can choose to explore one of the many short walking tracks – alternatively, enjoy lunch, take a scenic flight or visit the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre (all extra cost).
In the afternoon, we leave Mt Cook behind and continue south over the Lindis Pass. At 971m (3,185ft) this is the highest point on the South Island state highway network. Travel past Lake Dunstan, a man-made lake reservoir, and stop at the Jones Family Orchard in Cromwell to sample the stone fruit for which this small town is famous.
Your tour will arrive in Queenstown in the early evening. Surrounded by majestic mountains and nestled on the shores of crystal clear Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown’s stunning scenery is inspiring and revitalising. With such a huge range of activities in Queenstown, no two days will ever be the same.
